ABOUT US
A WAR IN PICTURES is a series of private discussion sessions based on themes about the 2nd Indochina War. By introducing feature films, short films and series about the War from multiple international filmmakers, which take place in various eras during and after the War, we hope to provide different lenses for the audience to understand the diverse perspectives, and to facilitate dialogue while supporting and encouraging further multidisciplinary research about the War.
War is complex and multifaceted, often shaped by biased or incomprehensive perspectives, and the 2nd Indochina War is no exception, and the mainstream media narrative often undermines the experiences of related parties other than Viet Nam or the US. And even through the lens of these two main participants, the experiences of soldiers or political leaders are the main focus, while that of other communities are generally left unapproached. As we witness how throughout decades during and after the War generations of filmmakers from all over the world have been sharing their sides of the story through their work, we believe that this could be a crucial tool for audiences who are interested in learning about the 2nd Indochina War.
The A WAR IN PICTURES website works as a library that collects basic information of each movie about the 2nd Indochina War for research purposes.
